Sept 27: Ted Lasso + More is More

“I believe in Communism. Rom-communism, that is. If Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan can go through some heartfelt struggles and still end up happy, then so can we.”

I binged most of Ted Lasso in a week because I needed a laugh. Although seasons 2-3 are definitely more about feelings than laughter… still love it. wish there was more.

Also anyone else get mad that in the switch from “network TV shows” to streaming, we lost like half the episodes per season? Gilmore Girls and Parks & Rec gave us about 24 eps per season, and now we’re down to 10.

I feel like every streaming-only show is an expanded mini-series: more than a movie, but starting with a fully-formed plan. More artistic, more about the story… but less of the “let’s find out where the characters take us over the next 6 years”

Which leads me to my next point…

More is more

In Marketing, in writing, in content creation… more is more is more (in the best possible way).

There’s no such thing as Less is More! in marketing. MORE is success.

Gary Vee goes over the top with this saying you need to post something around 68484551 times per day on multiple platforms.

But here’s what we know: people want to binge your content. They want to binge YOU! and that’s what will make you a sale at the end of the day.

If you keep things interesting and give people MORE of what they want, you’ll get more clients.

Maybe you think you’re not that interesting. WELL, THERE’S A TED LASSO EXAMPLE FOR THAT TOO!

The way he loves Nate the Great in the first season, saying things like “I love getting a peak into your personal life” (when Nate’s niece crafts a decorative box), or “That was an emotional roller coaster, and I’m just glad I was tall enough to ride.”

You are interesting, and the more you post the more it comes out.

Be MORE of yourself

The more you write, the more you post on social media (any platform), the more you show up in your personal life… YOU will be more comfortable with yourself.

because there’s only so long you can hide.

I guess you could create 7 pieces of content a day with an alter ego, and that’s fine, but it’s much easier to just put yourself out there.

 BUT care deeply for others

The internet is a strange place (there’s some thought leadership!). You will feel VERY selfish posting about yourself or your business every single day. And it might be enough to shut you down.

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO INSTEAD:

In every video, tell people how YOU CAN HELP.

Become very invested in someone else’s success.

… this is kind of an ulterior motive because if they do well, they’ll refer you to others, and then you serve them well, and the list goes on and on.

YOU CANNOT SUCCEED IF YOUR CLIENT DOESN’T SUCCEED. So get to know them, and what keeps them up at night, and solve those problems for them.
